MMS

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) extends SMS capabilities by enabling rich media content delivery to mobile devices. Unlike SMS, MMS supports images, videos, audio files, and formatted text, making it ideal for visual communications, product showcases, and interactive campaigns.

This page covers MMS-specific features including subject lines, media attachments, and content formatting. We recommend reviewing the General Message Types documentation first.

Subject and Attachments

MMS messages require a subject line similar to email messages and support media attachments for enhanced visual communication.

Subject Line

Every MMS message must include a subject line that appears in the recipient's message preview. For detailed information on creating effective subject lines, refer to the Email Subject documentation.

Media Attachments

MMS supports a single media attachment per message, allowing you to include:

Supported File Formats:

  • Images: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif
  • Audio: .wav, .mp3
  • Video: .3gp, .mp4, .mpg, .mpeg, .avi
  • Documents: .pdf, .vcf, .vcard, .cal

File Size Considerations:

  • Message2Give automatically compresses oversized files
  • Excessive compression may reduce content quality

Message Content

MMS message content is created using the standard text editor, supporting the same features as other message types including placeholders and templates.

Content Requirements:

  • Character Limit: Maximum 4,096 characters per message
  • Text Editor: Use the standard text editor for content creation
  • Formatting: Supports basic text formatting and placeholders

Best Practices:

  • Keep content concise to maximize visual impact
  • Use placeholders for personalization
  • Consider how text will appear alongside your media attachment
  • Test message appearance on different devices
